Vacation Details ...........

Ok, let’s see, where do I begin about telling you about our vacation.

We left last Monday afternoon and flew to Orlando. Got there mid-afternoon and went to the car rental place and then on to our condo. While driving there, it was POURING rain! Ugh! I mean POURING RAIN!!!!!!!!!!! After about an hour or so of rain, it stopped ... finally ... and cleared up and became HOT and HUMID once again. Welcome to Florida!

Monday night, we just unpacked and vegged, shopped at Downtown Disney (our favorite place to shop) and ate supper. We then got back to the condo around midnight ... MUCH past Mike’s bedtime! ha!

You would think that we would have slept very well that first night, wouldn’t you?! WRONGO!!!! At 3:45 a.m., Mike and I were awakened by a little CHIRPING noise in our bedroom ... CHIRP, CHIRP, CHIRP! Guess what it was?! The smoke alarm ... going dead. Mike stood up on a chair and retrieved the battery out of the smoke alarm ... however, the smoke alarm was “hot wired” with a 120 v wire into the wall. The battery was merely a precautionary step to use as a “back up”. UGH! But taking the battery out did NOT fix the problem! It was still CHIRPING!!!

So .......... at 3:45 a.m., who do you call?????? We looked in the “information book” and the only people who were available 24 hours a day were the security guys. So, you guessed it! We called security at 3:50 a.m. UGH!

Here comes this 70+ year old guy to our condo at 4:00 a.m. He steps up on this chair and fiddles around with the alarm/wires/etc. for a few minutes ... managing to set off the alarm at least 3-4 times ... waking up Morgan in the room next door to ours (which I was NOT happy about) and then lo and behold, he touches the WRONG WIRE and SHOCKS HIMSELF! He starts shaking because it scares him soooooo bad! Oh my word! So, he turns around to Mike (who is standing behind him) and says something to the effect of – You have younger hands than I do, can you see if you can get that red/black wire off of there?! GRRRRRR. On his way down from the chair (the old man), I literally thought he was going to shake and fall off the chair onto ME laying in bed!!!!!! GRRRRRRR!!!!

By about 4:20 a.m., Mike had pulled the correct wire from the smoke alarm, disarming it, and the old guy was gone! GRRRRRRRRR! What a way to start a vacation ... your first night of vacation. We were sufficiently tired enough to go back to sleep in a few minutes ... and slept in till 9 a.m. the following morning! YAY for us!!!!

(trying to put an image of the smoke detector in, but blogger won't let me upload it right now)

Let’s see ... Tuesday ... what did we do? Listened to the 90 minute condo speech, no big deal, but well worth the savings in hotel fees! We then lounged at the pool most of the rest of the day, went shopping at a “RITZY” mall complex that evening and some outlet stores and then back to some gift shops.

Wednesday ... We started our day touring a scrapbook warehouse. Mike had set up a “tour” for me of this place called Mouse Memories. It was fantastic! Really nice ladies and a fabulous ARTIST on staff!!! We then went to Chef Mickey’s to have breakfast with the characters, which was fun ... and expensive!!! Mike didn’t feel very good the rest of the day, so we just lounged at the pool and Morgan and I went to dinner that night by ourselves ... while Mike was back at the condo ... taking Imodium! (ha!)

Thursday ... we spent the day at TYPHOON LAGOON! I can’t wait to get the pictures back from the water camera. I sent those in yesterday and should have those pictures back by mid-week. Those little water cameras are pretty good. I bought one last week at Walmart before we left ... not wanting to pay $8.94 for it. However, guess how much the exact same cameras were at Disney? $19.99. Can you believe that?! Goodness gracious! NOT PAYING THAT!!! So, anyway, we spent the ENTIRE day at Typhoon Lagoon and had a blast. There is a NEW water roller coaster there that is fantastic! We must have ridden it 5-6 times! The best one is called Coconut Crusher!!!! (There’s gonna be a FUN layout with these pictures!)

Friday ... We slept in this morning, thank goodness. By the end of the week, we were worn out ... even from vegging. We then went to breakfast and off to see the “Peabody Ducks” . This hotel called the Peabody is famous for its “ducks” and at precisely 11:00 a.m., they roll out the red carpet (really!) for these ducks to come walking in to the lobby and get up in a little fountain thingy and stay there till 5:00 p.m. and then they roll the red carpet back out for them to go back to their “home”. Ugh! It was cute! Nothing major, but cute. We then went back to the condo and vegged some more that afternoon! FUN in the SUN! It was a fun day!

Friday night, we went to the Polynesian Resort for supper and fireworks on the beach. It was FABULOUS! We watched the fireworks (from over at Magic Kingdom) across the water at the beach, sitting on lounge chair/chaise lounges. It was really neat! The weather was great, cool actually. I really enjoyed this part of the trip.

(trying to put another picture or two of the fireworks in, but blogger won't let me right now)

Saturday ... we puttered around in the condo that morning and slept in again. We then left around 11 a.m., got something to eat and then to the airport to come home. Got home around 5:30 p.m. that night and got laundry started and the house cleaned up.

Sunday ... we vegged at Todd and Mary’s and had a cookout, pool party with them ALL DAY LONG! We were GOING to go to church, but Mike decided we needed this extra day of VACATION just to rest and relax and I’m glad we did. We had a fun day in the sun with friends and it was a very nice relaxing day to end our wonderful week of vacation.

Ok, now that I’ve bored you to tears, you know most of the highlights of my week. Thanks for reading! :)
