Thursday

Ok, so I was doing soooooooooo good in posting something every day ... until yesterday. Well, in case you were worried about me, here's what happened:

*******

On Tuesday afternoon, Dad and Mike were working on pouring new concrete at Mom and Dad's house for their front steps. Mike was under the house getting things ready behind the steps and Dad was using his CIRCULAR SAW (key words!) to cut the 2 x 4s to make the "frame" for the concrete mixture for the steps. (Did you read that in big letters - CIRCULAR SAW?! Just making sure, as this is the "crux" of the story!)

The board Dad was cutting somehow got turned or something and he took his RIGHT HAND off the board to move it - BEFORE THE BLADE OF THE SAW STOPPED MOVING - and ... you know where I'm going with this, don't you?????? YES, the circular saw BLADE cut the fatty part of his hand and he went down!!!! You got it!!!!!

So, we spent 3 1/2 hours in ER on Tuesday night. Took x-rays, talked to drs, etc. THEN ... spent ALL DAY YESTERDAY at the Indiana Hand Center in Indianapolis ... because of course, he SEVERED the tendon completely to the bone! UGH!!!! He had surgery yesterday afternoon. He now has a splint thing on his RIGHT HAND/ARM for 2 weeks and stitches, etc. He goes back to the hand doctor on the 19th to hopefully get the stitches out, get a new splint, etc.

For now, he cannot bend his hand/thumb area IN ANY WAY ......... or the tendon might tear apart or whatever. NOT GOOD! He's not a happy camper right now! Yes, we are very thankful he didn't cut his thumb off, but his spirits are very dampened right now. He's very distraught with his "stupidity" for 2 seconds (as he said) that cost him a lot more time off work, pain, suffering, etc.

Anyway ........... in case you had taken him OFF your prayer list ........... PUT HIM BACK ON and KEEP HIM ON IT for awhile!!!!!!!!! :0)

That's what I did yesterday ... instead of typing on this blog! Back to work today!!!! :)
