Update on Dad
Ok, here's the update.
Dad waited around ALL DAY LONG yesterday (at Fort Wayne Hospital) for a bed to become available at IU Med Center. No such luck. By about 8 p.m .last night, he was really bummed.
At 8:15 p.m. he called mom to tell her that the nurse had just come to inform him that IU HAD a bed and he needed to go right away ... they would not "hold" it until today when the ambulance could take him, so he needed to use "his own personal vehicle" to get there! HELLO!? It is 8:30 p.m. at night and he is 2 hours from anyone who has a vehicle to take him.
So ... (are you getting the picture here) ... mom and I hopped in the car at 8:30 p.m. and drove to Fort Wayne (1 1/2 hours) and picked him up, then drove to IU Med Center (another 2 hours) (got there around 12:15 a.m.) to admit him there. UGH! We stayed and talked to the doctor, who was very nice. They literally had 2 beds get "freed" up last night and dad got one of them. Sheesh! What a night!
Anyway, they are planning to run lots of tests today, including an ultrasound on his pancreas and gall bladder. His liver and pancreas enzymes are much too high and they don't know, other than pancreatitis, the cause of that. They said it "could be" gall stones, but gall stones weren't evident on the CT scan from the other hospital, so who knows. They will also do a hydascan test - to show the functionality of his gall bladder if they still suspect that is the culprit.
It's the start of the "waiting game" once again ... but just thought I'd update you.
Yes, mom and I got home/in town about 2:25 a.m. ... and YES, I am at work this morning! UGH! What a LONG LONG day this is going to be!!!!
