Monday

Hi.

Well, some of you have emailed and wondered about "updates" to my blog, so I thought I'd fill you in as best I could this morning on several updates. Here goes:

1. Friday, a meeting between the old superintendent and Mike and the office manager took place. Nothing major. Just the old super telling Mike that there was NO WAY he would let the new superintendent terminate his job, nor that of the office manager. There is going to be a major meeting with the new superintendent, the old superintendent, the entire school board, MIke, the office manager, etc. supposedly on June 21st (I'm not holding my breath, but that's what they say right now anyway!) to figure out just what the new superintendent meant when he told Mike to - "Clean out your desk by July 1st". The old superintendent and the office manager seem to think that the new guy just wants Mike's office (specifically) and that it is all a big misunderstanding right now. Hm. Who knows?! Lack of communications skills can get you in LOTS of trouble. So, we'll see. I'll rest a little easier once this 21st meeting takes place. However, we leave on vacation June 26-July 2nd and I don't know how well we'll really "enjoy" our vacation ... wondering whether Mike has a job when he comes back on the 3rd. We'll see. Thanks for the prayers.

2. My dad - Apparently he interpreted the doctor's statement of "Don't drive" to mean ONLY THAT VERY DAY OF THE SURGERY ... because on Friday morning, he and Morgan went "rummaging" ... i.e. Dad was driving (Morgan helping him with the keys, putting it in "drive", etc.) They were gone for 3 HOURS! Mom was not very happy about all that, but ... what are you gonna do, huh!? She called me to see if there was such a thing as a "protective order" or "restraining order" to keep dad at home. Sorry Charlie. No such luck! After about 3 hours, Dad called her on his cell phone and she answered and said something to the effect of - If you are in ER, don't even tell me, because you aren't supposed to be driving! ha!

In all seriousness, he's doing ok. Probably doing TOO MUCH with his hand right now, but at least it's not hurting him. I'm sure hoping he can get all the feeling back in his thumb/hand at that particular spot.

And no, he's not in "bubble wrap" yet either ! (Marisa!) ha!

3. The ball game - Our first church softball game was Friday night. Actually, it was a double header! We lost ............ BUT .................. all 3 times that I was up to bat, I HIT IT!!!! WAHOO!!!! I have a few sore muscles to boot, but YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hit the ball!!!!!!!!! We have another double header tomorrow night and I'm hoping we might win one of the games. Our church isn't really KNOWN for our great softball league, but at least we have fun and get some exercise too!!!!

Ok, not much else today. My boss is gone all week, so it should be a good week (for the most part) at work! Have a great day!

Wow. Too much stuff all at the same time!

I told LeeAnne that maybe you could lock your dad in a padded room (so he wouldn't hurt himself or run around by himself) while you guys aren't around to watch him!
