Got MILK????
So, for about a month (so far), I've been collecting gallon milk jugs .... church, the courthouse, dad's work, people I dont even KNOW have been collecting milk jugs for me and calling or emailing for me to come and get them! How fun is that! Anywhere I can get them, I've been getting them!!!! We've been collecting for about 3-4 weeks now and Saturday was a BEAUTIFUL day, so we got them all out of my garage and started spraying bleach water in them ... hoping to "nix" any smells that might arise. ha! Most of them were OK "smell wise", but there were a few that hadn't been rinsed out quite enough ... so we threw those away. NASTY smells! (Thanks LeeAnne, Morgan, Mike and Lynzi for helping!) Anyway ... here's a picture of the bags of "jugs" outside my garage first thing Saturday. Look at all those bags!
And then here's the picture after we bleached out some of them and let them "air dry" in the sun Saturday afternoon. (See the black and white trash bags behind these jugs, those are the ones we hadn't yet bleached out!)
Guess how many we have so far??? 397 1/2. HA! (We have a few 1/2 gallon jugs, so that's what accounts for the 1/2). ha! Anyway, we are about half way there, I think! I'm "guestimating" that we need approximately 800 milk jugs to build our igloo. I've had conversation with a person on the internet who built one for her 12 kindergarten students and herself to fit inside and it took them 535 jugs. I have K-4th graders and about 15-18 of them, so I'm guestimating it'll take more than 535, so that's why I came up with the 800 number. NO CLUE if that's gonna work or not! I HOPE SO!!!!
The only problem with this COOL project (ha) is the fact that these milk jugs have to be stored in my garage (or somewhere) until we BUILD the igloo (for June) and then taken to the church and BUILT at the church that week before we start the lessons. UGH! So ... that week will be STRESSFUL, I'm sure!!!! I'll take pictures of the finished project!!!!
Yesterday at church, we got about 40 more jugs! YAY! People are really stepping up to the plate and bringing them in for me ... YAY! Thanks!
Ok, off to work for now. Just thought I'd share my weekend endeavor with you!!!
Happy Monday!

Now that's some milk jugs!! What a fun idea though. I would save mine for you as well! But I don't think it would be feasible to mail them to you! lol I can't wait to see the finished igloo!
